Foster for S.A.F.E. Rehoming
S.A.F.E. Rehoming is always looking for more foster carers. At this stage, we are operating solely from foster homes, therefore we need as many foster carers as we can get!
Even when we establish our own shelter, we will still require foster carers for various reasons e.g. animals who are not coping in the shelter, animals who are too young to be adopted, sick animals, animals recovering from surgery, etc. Kitten season runs generally from November to March, which means we always have an influx of kittens and mums with kittens during this time of the year. If you are a first time carer mums and kittens are a good way to start, as the mums take care of the kittens and all you need to do is provide mum with food and water and spend time playing and cuddling both mum and kittens!
Cats who need foster care generally only need a small space, even just a laundry or spare room, where they can get settled and used to their new environment. Even well adjusted cats can take up to a week before being completely settled in a new environment. If necessary we can provide everything else you need, including food, food and water bowls, litter and litter tray and toys. We will also cover all veterinary bills. If you think you would be able to help out with fostering or you would like to know more about what it involves, please contact us by clicking here for cats.
Dogs who need foster care require a bit more space and often more attention. Dogs ideally need two medium walks a day or at least one long walk per day, as well as several toilet breaks throughout the day, if there is no access to the outdoors. If necessary we will provide all the other bits and pieces needed, such as food, food and water bowls, collar, lead (and harness if required). We will also cover all veterinary bills.
