Sometimes itโ€™s not all a bed of roses when a new cat is introduced to a resident cat. Maxโ€™s owners did all the things we advised to get their resident to accept the newcomer. Max settled in well and loves to sit on the ownerโ€™s desk (especially during meetings!). But the resident cat, Cherry still hissed and growled at him and he responded by chasing her down. Sometimes, no matter how hard we try, cats just donโ€™t like each other and we have to accept that they will never be best buddies. Fortunately this doesn’t happen often (& we’re still hopeful that in time things will improve) but it’s a risk you take if you want to add another cat to the family. The best we can hope for is that they co-exist peacefully.
