It wasn’t a good start – at first Dimitri, the resident grey cat, was very ’emotional’ so the 2 cats were kept apart, but by taking it slowly and feeding them either side of a blind, in general the introductions seemed to be going well. However, when Taco (the black cat) was allowed out of her ‘safe’ room she became stressed & defensive. She hissed & growled at Dimitri who really wanted to interact with her (see photo). So after 3 weeks, the owners decided to backtrack. They separated the cats again and went back to the introduction process. And we’re happy to say it worked! Taco is now calmer and less reactive and Dimitri is taking it much more slowly. By one month Taco had settled down and play-fighting with Dimitri is now part of their daily routine.
